Positioned atop a south-facing knoll in Vermont’s Champlain Valley, Farmstead Revival brought Birdseye’s comprehensive building expertise to bear on a centuries-old farmstead in disrepair.
The master plan addressed programmatic, landscape, and energy needs to unify the site while preserving its agricultural spirit. The brick farmhouse, dating to 1815, was carefully relocated and upgraded with a high-performance thermal envelope, while a modern addition—linked by a light-filled foyer—houses communal living spaces with panoramic views. Two historic barns were structurally restored and positioned to frame a central forecourt. The project integrates renewable energy through geothermal heat pumps and a rooftop solar array, and the working landscape includes gardens, orchards, and outdoor living spaces such as porches, a sunroom, and a pergola. Across the project, Birdseye’s in-house craft disciplines—from metalwork to millwork—are on display, elevating the character and continuity of the site for generations to come.
